7 Mile Bridge

In the Florida Keys, a 7 Mile Bridge stands abandoned.

This project explores 7 architectural interventions as methods to resurrect the dilapidated ruins of the once famous bridge. The interventions are dictated by the different methods of transportation available on the bridge such as walking, jogging, biking, and boating. They are also responsive to the natural surroundings, such as optimal fishing areas and a sunset gazing theatre.

It takes influence from similar projects such as The Highline, but varies entirely in its surroundings; instead of being amidst a bustling city, it is isolated in the ocean.  Its main focus of attraction is its proximity to nature and the sea, providing a large linear park for seafarers such as scuba-divers, fishermen, tourists, and marine biologists.

The project’s goal is not only to remodel the forgotten bridge but to attract visitors and generate profit to maintain the bridge in healthy existence.
