Figueroa
Role: Project Manager
Gabriel Figueroa was one of the leading cinematographers in Mexican and Latin American cinema from the 1930’s-1980’s. This exhibition portrayed his life, beginnings, influences, and samples of his work.
The exhibition consisted of 7 different galleries which focused on a different aspect of Figueroa’s career. A variety of colors were used to create a sense of transition between galleries. The work to be exhibited consisted of full height projections, LCD screens, photographs, and paintings from contemporary painters of Figueroa, who’s work largely influenced his work. The design of the layout of the galleries was a collaboration between Mexican curators, Concepto M, and Katz Architecture (architect of record).
The architectural aspect of the exhibition involved altering the partitions of the galleries in order to make the exhibition into a linear sequence. The scope also involved the design and management of a/v equipment and electrical installation to allocate the LCD screens and projections of the exhibition.
